Another servant of the Lord, LaShaun Chaney, has graced the body of Christ with a body of music, worship, and praise fit for The King of kings. The name of the album, I Am Safe. I ran across LaShaun’s work at CDbaby.com. She is an independent artist from the Houston area. As far as I know this is her first album. It was produced by CAT ON A BRANCH PRODUCTIONS in 2008.
The very first track, “I Know,” immediately reaches your heart with a message from the Savior. “I see, I hear, I know. I see your situation. I feel your desperation. I see, I hear, I know. There’s no place my love can’t reach – no mountain (too) high, no valley (too) deep – I see.” This is a very comforting song and prepares you for the rest of the album. The groove is easy and laid back. You instantly know you are about to be lead by an experienced worshipper.
The album encompasses many styles from contemporary to pop styles. There are beautiful ballads such as “Circumstance,” that showcase LaShaun’s voice and tremendous vocal talent. In fact there are rock styles, afro-latina beats, and tradition gospel-hallelujah-shoutin music! “Praise Him In The Morning” will have you up on your feat dancing dancin and singing, even shouting. The song is alive with organs sounds, horns and choir, guitar, drum, and some poppin bass action. This is the kind of music I envision when I think of gospel music.
These are just a few of the absolutely wonderful songs you will find on this album. Again the name of the album is “I Am Safe.” LaShaun brings it with the power of Spirit. This ablum is a must for your praise and worship library. There are many other independent artist out there praising the Lord with all their might.
