This passed friday I was out doing laundry with my daughter Kat and this musical idea popped into my head. It was one of those ideas that is hard to forget. So when we got back home I sat down to see if I could flesh out an arrangement that could be used as a song. I am pleasantly surprised at the outcome. So far as lyrics all I have is a chorus idea. My daughter sang the type of drum beat she thought the song should have. She was right on the money!
The music however is totally different as far as the kind of styles I usually peruse. It was just a matter of uncovering something that was already there. I can’t honestly claim that I wrote it. It did come from inside me but I am more than sure it came from the Lord’s Spirit inside, and I can’t stop listening to it nor get it out of my head. That is the case with all of the songs I have written, the ones I can’t stop listening to.
The more I hear and learn about grace and my identity in Christ, the more I am convince that I am connected through the holy Spirit to heaven itself, not to mention the Lord and God who saved me.
I believe he made me a musician and that is the reason new music comes to me. I used to think I was the source of the music and ideas that came to me, and, that it was my duty to use it for God and His kingdom. Now I know that He is the source of the music and it comes straight from Heaven. And since He is also the source of my life I can only do what was originally meant for the music.
From this I suspect that He actually has a plan for my life and His music. I’m just happy to be along for the ride. I think I am finally starting to understand.
Hopefully the song will be complete by the week’s end. I can’t wait for you to hear it.
